The name of the city Antwerp (Antwerpen) comes from the word "hand-werpen" or hand-throwing.
Legend has it that the city was under the dominion of the fearsome giant Druoon Antigoon untol the brave Roman soldier Silvius Brabo cut off his hands and threw them into the river Scheldt.
Today the delicious "Antwerpse Handjes" have become a true symbol of friendship!
